A Special Day For Me

So this was my day last Sunday, but I am a little slow getting it posted.

Because of my Uncle Olivers job as head of security at the M.T.C. sometimes I get to have wonderful experiences like the one I just had. Today started the beginning of the new mission presidents seminar; basically a training for all mission presidents who have been recently called. The seminar always begins with a sacrament meeting with all of the new presidents as well as members of the missionary committee, the seven presidents of the seventy, members of church auxillary boards, members from the quorum of the twelve apostles, the first presidency and the prophet. My assignment today was to assist Sister Monson in her needs. What a wonderful experience that was for me. Her daughter sister Ann Dibbs (councilor in the General Young Women's Presidency) was there, so I didn't need to do much, but I got to escort her to the sacrament meeting where I got to set with her, and escort her to lunch, and then help her to her car. Of course I got to shake hands with President Monson and the other members of the quorum of the twelve a couple of times as well. The closing hymn of the sacrament meeting was We thank thee o God for a prophet. It was hard to hold back the tears, seeing the members of the quorum of the twelve, knowing that I was sitting at the feet of the prophet. He addressed the mission presidents and his focus was very much on them, I was still very touched when he closed with a quote that I have heard him share many times before. "The Lord gives us memories that we have June roses in the Decembers of our lives." That touched my heart very much today. I know sometimes I tend to dwell to much on my Decembers, while I have had some wonderful June Roses that will stay with me for forever. I am so thankful to have had this wonderful opportunity. I know that President Monson is a prophet of God, and that He loves Heavenly Father very much. He is such a humble person. All of the apostles are. I had to chuckle a little bit, before the meeting started President Uctdorf pulled out his blackberry and sent a text message. My thought was...They are human. I am still on a little bit of a high. On Tuesday I will get to see them again, for the devotional to the missionaries, Elder Hales will be speaking. I guess this just proves....It's who you know, not what you know.
